We promote an atmosphere of: encouragement, acceptance, respect for the achievements of others and sensitivity to individual needs, in which all pupils can thrive, achieving their personal best. In particular, for pupils with Special Educational Needs, we strive to promote a climate of warmth and support in which confidence and self- esteem can grow, so that all pupils feel valued and are able to risk making mistakes as they learn, without fear of criticism or failure.


The Objectives on pupil’s Statements of Special Educational Needs and/or Educational Health Care Plans are closely monitored to ensure their specific educational needs are met. Objectives are reviewed on an annual basis and in addition to this PEP meetings and IEP meetings are held on a termly basis. As a school we closely liaise with all professionals surrounding the pupil such as Educational Psychologist, Social workers, Information Advice and Guidance Advisors, Special Educational Needs Case Workers recognising that as much professional advice and input that can be provided for our pupils increases their chances of success.


The school’s SENDCO works closely with all the education staff providing additional support and advise enabling all the educational staff to have a thorough understanding of each individual pupil’s needs and how best to meet them.Parents, carers and each individual pupil is involved as much as possible with every aspect of reviewing of and setting new targets so that our pupils can learn to take ownership of their education and obtain a greater sense of achievement, and as a consequence, boost their self-esteem, self-confidence and sense of self-worth as they progress.
